“Few places in the Mediterranean have such a surprising effect and offer such a pretty view as that of Cape Carbon, the tetrum promontorium of the Ancients which suddenly appears after crossing the short and shadowy tunnel which cuts through the hill.
The hill on Cape Carbon is topped by two buildings, the lighthouse and, just above, the signalling tower. The former emits a white light visible from a distance of thirty-five miles and which blinks every minute. The light itself is 220 meters above sea level, and the tower is 10 meters high. The signalling tower is an elegant modern building with a pretty patio. It was built by an architect from Bejaia. There are beautiful views from its terraces.”
