“Also worth noting around Bizerte is the pretty path to the semaphore tower on Cape “White”, an easy trip on horseback.
Taking the old railway line which once connected the main dock to the quarry, you pass by a well, and, to the right, you can see the Sidi Selim fort; the view of the city and breakwaters is very seductive from the fort.
From the signalling tower hill, you look over Galita and Galitona, all the promontory, the end of the cape and the sand dunes. You can also see a part of the lagoon. Near the very white, fine calcareous cape, the land is flatter. The semaphore tower is surrounded by four towers.”
Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria, Bizerte, J. Rothschild, Paris, 1900 (Prague, 1897)
