“From up close in the inner corner, we can see the citadel with its cliffs dominated by walls in the wildest possible way. We see the path which reaches there and the houses on the skirts below under the shade of monumental trees.”
“Here we see the double island in full. To the left are the cliffs towards KrioNero, later the petroleum deposits, the remains of the old Kaloyerihouse and Panayachurch. Afterwards we see the heights of the castrofortress, built by the French, and, to the right, the neighbouringrocky islands.”
Kavos Sti Monastery. “Above, to the right, is Aya’smenacing castle. How many times must it have seemed like a real danger to the peaceful monks living in the Panaya VlacherenaMonastery? But their protective walls had arrow slits, and they were prepared at all times for any attack. Now stands out the roof-less tower of the monastery in ruins, along with the rocky Karavipoint, jumping out into the sea and resisting the waves.”

The first thing which impresses the city’s visitors has to be the beautiful bay, both due to the transparent water as well as the hills surrounding it and the islets in the middle of this small bay.

We can also see a photo of the islets taken from the right shore of the small bay near the citadel. In the back, to the left, we can also see the cliffs near Krio Nero.
Lastly, the image we saw in this entry doesn’t correspond to Parga’s beaches. The image was taken from the sea and in which we could see the monastery and, up high, Ali Pascha’s fortress. We’ll discuss this further in the section dedicated to excursions by sea.
