In terms of architecture, Levkada is an island of contrasts. Some areas have preserved their architectural heritage, while others have lost it to simply develop resorts dedicated to the mass tourism industry. At the same time, we also found contrasts within some towns. Without doubt, this fact has pedagogical value because it allows us to see the esthetic impact the different options have on the environment.
Also, as has been the norm throughout the Ionian Sea, we easily saw the influence the risk of earthquakes has had on the island’s architecture as well as the change in the latter over time.
