We could still see some of the old houses in the city though restored in keeping with traditional styles. This has not been the case with other houses. Consequently, the degree of protection seems to vary.

Outside the city, in terms of tourism-related development, there doesn’t seem to have been any respect for traditional architectural canon. The buildings dedicated to this industry are, for the most part, similar to those in many other tourist areas in the Mediterranean.
